Cotswold Mill House

Location: Gloucestershire

Photographer: Adam Carter

Originally part of a working farmstead, The Mill House is a heritage countryside home defined by its characterful architecture and layered history. Built using traditional materials, the property has evolved organically over time, with former agricultural buildings connected to form an expansive, U-shaped layout that feels both generous and distinctive.

The clients were immediately drawn to the house for its charm and potential, envisioning it as a peaceful rural retreat that could adapt to family life while also welcoming guests.

Our approach focused on creating visual continuity throughout the varied spaces while respecting the integrity of the building. A timeless interior design scheme was introduced, combining classic detailing with subtle contemporary contrasts. Natural textures and raw features, including exposed timber, were carefully retained and enhanced, while bespoke furniture and tailored joinery were designed to respond to the home’s individual proportions and layout.

The finished interior reflects a considered balance of tradition and modern living — a bespoke country interior design that unites character, comfort, and functionality, and exemplifies Katherine’s expertise in heritage and rural properties.
